Rinnoji Temple
Rinnoji Temple is a significant Buddhist temple located in Nikko, Japan. Founded in the 8th century by Shodo Shonin, it serves as the head temple of the Tendai sect in the region. The temple is renowned for its beautiful architecture and serene gardens, attracting many visitors each year.
The temple complex includes several important structures, such as the Sanbutsudo, which houses three golden statues of Amida Buddha, Shaka Nyorai, and Maitreya. Rinnoji is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its cultural and historical importance, particularly in relation to the nearby Toshogu Shrine.
