Ringlet butterfly
The Ringlet butterfly is a medium-sized butterfly belonging to the family Nymphalidae. It is commonly found in grasslands and woodland edges across Europe and parts of Asia. The butterfly is characterized by its brown wings adorned with distinctive ring-like patterns, which help it blend into its surroundings and avoid predators.
The Ringlet's life cycle includes four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult butterfly. The caterpillars primarily feed on grasses, making them dependent on healthy grassland habitats. This species is typically active from late spring to early autumn, with adults often seen fluttering close to the ground.
