Right Neglect
Right neglect is a cognitive condition often observed in individuals who have experienced damage to the right hemisphere of the brain. This condition leads to a lack of awareness or attention to the left side of their environment, affecting their ability to perceive and respond to stimuli on that side. It can manifest in various ways, such as neglecting to eat food on the left side of a plate or failing to notice people or objects to the left.
Individuals with right neglect may also struggle with tasks that require spatial awareness, such as reading or drawing. This condition is commonly associated with stroke, traumatic brain injury, or neurological disorders. Rehabilitation strategies often focus on improving awareness and attention to the neglected side, helping individuals regain a more balanced perception of their surroundings.
