Richard FitzGilbert
Richard FitzGilbert was a prominent Norman nobleman in the 11th century, known for his role in the Norman Conquest of England. He was the son of Gilbert de Clare and a key supporter of William the Conqueror. FitzGilbert was granted extensive lands in England after the conquest, which helped establish his family's influence.
He is often associated with the founding of several important castles, including Clare Castle in Suffolk. His descendants, the Clare family, became significant figures in English history, playing vital roles in both military and political affairs throughout the medieval period.
