Richard Carpenter
Richard Carpenter is an American musician and songwriter, best known as one half of the popular duo The Carpenters. Born on October 15, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, he gained fame in the 1970s for his work as a pianist and vocalist. The duo, which included his sister Karen Carpenter, produced numerous hit songs, including "Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun."
Richard's musical style blends pop and soft rock, characterized by rich harmonies and melodic arrangements. After Karen Carpenter's untimely death in 1983, Richard continued to perform and produce music, honoring their legacy while also exploring solo projects and collaborations.
