Richard, 4th Duke of Cumberland (1744-1817), was a British nobleman and a member of the House of Hanover. He was the son of Prince Frederick, Duke of Cumberland and Strathearn and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. Richard became Duke in 1765 and was known for his military service, particularly during the Seven Years' War.
Despite his noble status, Richard faced controversies, including his opposition to the American Revolution and his involvement in various political matters. He was also known for his close relationship with his cousin, King George III, and his efforts to support the royal family during challenging times.
