Rhomboid Minor
The Rhomboid Minor is a small muscle located in the upper back, beneath the trapezius muscle. It originates from the spinous processes of the upper thoracic vertebrae and attaches to the medial border of the scapula. Its primary function is to retract the scapula, pulling it closer to the spine, which helps stabilize the shoulder blade during arm movements.
This muscle works in conjunction with the Rhomboid Major, which is larger and located just below it. Both muscles are innervated by the dorsal scapular nerve and play a crucial role in maintaining proper posture and shoulder mechanics, contributing to overall upper body strength and stability.
