Rho(D) Immune Globulin
Rho(D) Immune Globulin is a medication used to prevent Rh immunization in pregnant women who are Rh-negative. When an Rh-negative mother carries an Rh-positive baby, her immune system may produce antibodies against the baby's red blood cells, leading to complications in current or future pregnancies.
This medication works by providing passive immunity, which helps to neutralize any Rh-positive blood cells that may enter the mother's bloodstream during pregnancy or childbirth. Administering Rho(D) Immune Globulin can significantly reduce the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn in subsequent pregnancies.
