Rhinoceros Auklet
The Rhinoceros Auklet is a seabird found along the Pacific coast of North America and parts of Asia. It is known for its distinctive horn-like bill, which is prominent during the breeding season. These birds are medium-sized, with a stout body and a wingspan of about 24 inches. They primarily feed on small fish and invertebrates, diving underwater to catch their prey.
During the breeding season, Rhinoceros Auklets nest in burrows on coastal islands. They are social birds, often seen in large colonies. Their population is affected by habitat loss and predation from introduced species, making conservation efforts important for their survival.
