Auks
Auks are a family of seabirds known as Alcidae, which includes species like the puffin and the razorbill. They are primarily found in the northern hemisphere, especially in cold coastal regions. Auks are characterized by their stout bodies, short wings, and strong, flipper-like wings that make them excellent divers, allowing them to catch fish underwater.
These birds are often black and white in color, which helps them blend into their oceanic environment. Auks typically nest on cliffs or rocky shores, laying eggs in burrows or crevices. They are social birds, often seen in large colonies, and are known for their distinctive calls and behaviors during the breeding season.
