Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar
The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar was established following the Zanzibar Revolution in January 1964, which resulted in the overthrow of the Sultanate. This government aimed to address social inequalities and promote the interests of the African majority, who had been marginalized under colonial rule and the previous Arab-led government.
The new government implemented various reforms, including land redistribution and nationalization of key industries. It also sought to strengthen ties with other African nations and socialist countries during the Cold War. The Revolutionary Government played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of Zanzibar and its relationship with mainland Tanzania.
