Revolución De Mayo
The Revolución de Mayo was a significant event in Argentine history that took place from May 18 to May 25, 1810. It marked the beginning of the struggle for independence from Spanish colonial rule. The revolution was driven by local criollos, who were people of Spanish descent born in the Americas, and aimed to establish a local government in place of the Spanish viceroyalty.
The outcome of the Revolución de Mayo led to the formation of the Primera Junta, the first independent government in Argentina. This event is celebrated annually on May 25 as Día de la Revolución de Mayo, symbolizing the start of the country's journey toward independence, which was officially achieved in 1816.
