Reported Speech
Reported speech, also known as indirect speech, is a way of conveying what someone else has said without quoting their exact words. Instead of using quotation marks, the speaker summarizes or paraphrases the original statement. For example, if Alice says, "I am going to the store," in reported speech, it would be, "Alice said that she was going to the store."
In reported speech, certain changes often occur, such as shifting verb tenses and pronouns. For instance, present tense verbs typically change to past tense. Additionally, words like "today" or "tomorrow" may change to "that day" or "the next day" to reflect the time of reporting.
