Direct Speech
Direct speech is a way of reporting what someone has said by quoting their exact words. It is usually enclosed in quotation marks. For example, if Alice says, "I love reading," the direct speech captures her exact expression and emotion.
In writing, direct speech helps to convey characters' voices and make dialogue more engaging. It often includes a tag, like "she said" or "he asked," to indicate who is speaking. This technique is commonly used in literature, scripts, and everyday conversation to provide clarity and authenticity to the spoken words.
