Remote Associates Test
The Remote Associates Test (RAT) is a psychological assessment designed to measure creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. It presents participants with three seemingly unrelated words and asks them to find a fourth word that connects them. For example, if the words are cottage, blue, and mouse, the answer would be cheese.
Developed by psychologist Sarnoff Mednick in the 1960s, the RAT is often used in research to explore the nature of creativity. It helps identify how individuals can make connections between disparate concepts, which is a key aspect of creative thought and innovation.
