Regional Representative Council
The Regional Representative Council, known as Dewan Perwakilan Daerah (DPD) in Indonesia, is a legislative body that represents the interests of regions at the national level. It was established to ensure that regional voices are heard in the national government, particularly in matters affecting local governance and development. Members of the council are elected from each province, allowing for diverse regional representation.
The council's primary functions include proposing legislation, providing input on national policies, and overseeing the implementation of laws that impact regional areas. The DPD works alongside the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), which consists of both the DPD and the People's Representative Council (DPR), to create a balanced legislative process in Indonesia.
