Red-throated Diver
The Red-throated Diver (Gavia stellata) is a medium-sized waterbird found in northern regions, particularly during the breeding season in Arctic and subarctic areas. It is known for its distinctive red throat during the breeding season, which contrasts with its grayish body and white underparts. This bird is an excellent swimmer and diver, primarily feeding on fish and invertebrates.
Outside the breeding season, the Red-throated Diver migrates to coastal waters, where it can be seen in non-breeding plumage, which is less colorful. It is often spotted in lakes and coastal areas, making it a fascinating subject for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts interested in wildlife and bird migration.
