Red Phosphorus
Red phosphorus is a non-toxic, amorphous form of the element phosphorus. It is commonly used in safety matches, fireworks, and as a flame retardant in various materials. Unlike its more reactive counterpart, white phosphorus, red phosphorus is stable and does not ignite spontaneously in air.
This allotrope of phosphorus is produced by heating white phosphorus in the absence of oxygen. Red phosphorus has a reddish-brown color and is often used in the production of certain chemicals and in the manufacturing of glass and ceramics. Its unique properties make it valuable in various industrial applications.
