Red Hugh O'Donnell
Red Hugh O'Donnell was a prominent Irish chieftain born in 1572, known for his leadership during the late 16th century. He was a member of the O'Donnell clan and played a significant role in the struggle against English rule in Ireland. His resistance efforts were part of the broader conflict known as the Nine Years' War.
In 1591, Red Hugh was captured by the English but managed to escape, later leading his forces in battles against English troops. He became a symbol of Irish nationalism and is remembered for his dedication to preserving Irish culture and independence. Red Hugh died in 1602, shortly after the war ended.
