Red Cathedral
The "Red Cathedral," officially known as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, is a prominent Russian Orthodox church located in Moscow. Originally completed in 1883, it was built to commemorate the Russian victory over Napoleon in 1812. The cathedral is known for its striking red and white exterior, featuring golden domes and intricate architectural details.
In the 1930s, the cathedral was demolished under the orders of Joseph Stalin to make way for a grand palace that was never built. It was reconstructed in the 1990s and reopened in 2000, serving as a significant religious and cultural symbol in modern Russia.
