Recruit Training Command
Recruit Training Command (RTC) is the initial training facility for new recruits in the United States Navy. Located in Great Lakes, Illinois, RTC provides a structured environment where recruits learn the fundamentals of naval service, including military customs, physical fitness, and teamwork.
The training program lasts approximately eight weeks and culminates in a graduation ceremony. Recruits are taught essential skills such as seamanship, firefighting, and first aid, preparing them for their future roles in the Navy. RTC plays a crucial role in transforming civilians into disciplined sailors ready for service.
