Rani Padmavati
Rani Padmavati, also known as Rani Padmini, is a legendary figure in Indian history, celebrated for her beauty and bravery. She is said to have been the queen of Rajasthan's Chittor Fort and the wife of King Ratan Singh. Her story is often associated with themes of honor and sacrifice.
The tale of Rani Padmavati gained prominence through the epic poem "Padmavat" by the poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. According to the legend, she faced the invasion of the Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji, who sought to capture her. To protect her honor, Rani Padmavati chose to commit jauhar, a self-immolation act, along with other women of the fort.
