Rampa Rebellion
The Rampa Rebellion was an uprising that took place in 1922 in the Rampa region of present-day India. It was led by the local tribal leader, Alluri Sitarama Raju, who opposed British colonial rule and the oppressive policies imposed on the indigenous people. The rebellion aimed to establish a separate state for the tribal communities and restore their rights over land and resources.
The movement gained significant support from the local tribes, who were frustrated with the British government's restrictions on their traditional practices. Despite initial successes, the rebellion was eventually suppressed by British forces, leading to the arrest and execution of Raju in 1924. The Rampa Rebellion remains an important symbol of resistance against colonialism in India.
