Rainforest Area
A rainforest area is a dense forest characterized by high rainfall, typically exceeding 1750 millimeters (69 inches) annually. These ecosystems are found near the equator, where warm temperatures and humidity create ideal conditions for diverse plant and animal life. Rainforests are home to a vast array of species, many of which are not found anywhere else on Earth.
The two main types of rainforests are tropical rainforests and temperate rainforests. Tropical rainforests, like the Amazon Rainforest, are known for their rich biodiversity and towering trees. In contrast, temperate rainforests, found in regions like the Pacific Northwest, have cooler temperatures and distinct seasons, yet still support a variety of flora and fauna.
