Railguns
A railgun is a type of weapon that uses electromagnetic forces to launch projectiles at very high speeds. Unlike traditional firearms that rely on chemical propellants, railguns use a pair of conductive rails to create a magnetic field. When a current flows through these rails, it accelerates a projectile along the rails, allowing it to reach velocities much greater than conventional bullets.
Railguns are often considered for military applications due to their potential for long-range strikes and high-impact projectiles. They are still in the experimental stage, with research being conducted by various organizations, including the U.S. Navy, to explore their effectiveness and practicality in combat scenarios.
