Coilgun
A coilgun is a type of electromagnetic projectile launcher that uses coils of wire to accelerate a metal projectile. When an electric current passes through the coils, it creates a magnetic field that pulls the projectile forward. As the projectile moves, the current is switched off and activated in the next coil, allowing for continuous acceleration.
Coilguns are often used in research and educational settings to demonstrate principles of electromagnetism and physics. They differ from traditional firearms, as they do not rely on chemical propellants. Coilguns can vary in size and power, from small hobbyist models to larger experimental devices.
