RTCP
RTCP, or Real-Time Control Protocol, is a network protocol used alongside RTP (Real-Time Protocol) to manage the delivery of multimedia data over IP networks. It provides feedback on the quality of the media transmission, helping to monitor performance and ensure a smooth experience for users.
RTCP sends periodic control packets to participants in a multimedia session, containing information such as packet counts, timing, and quality metrics. This data helps network administrators and applications adjust parameters to optimize streaming quality, making it essential for applications like video conferencing and online gaming.
