Queen Min
Queen Min, also known as Empress Myeongseong, was the last queen of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea. Born in 1851, she married King Gojong and became a significant political figure during her husband's reign. Queen Min was known for her efforts to modernize Korea and resist foreign influence, particularly from Japan.
Her reign was marked by political turmoil and conflict, especially as Japan sought to expand its control over Korea. In 1895, Queen Min was assassinated by Japanese agents, an event that intensified anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea and contributed to the eventual annexation of Korea by Japan in 1910.
