Homonym: Queen Margherita (Pizza)
Queen Margherita was the queen consort of Italy from 1878 to 1900, married to King Umberto I. Born on November 20, 1851, in Turin, she was known for her elegance and strong personality, playing a significant role in the cultural life of Italy during her reign.
She is also famously associated with pizza, as the Margherita pizza was named in her honor. In 1889, the pizza was created by chef Raffaele Esposito to celebrate her visit to Naples. The dish features tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil, representing the colors of the Italian flag.
