Queen Astrid
Queen Astrid was the Queen of the Belgians from 1934 until her untimely death in 1935. Born on November 17, 1905, in Sweden, she was the daughter of Prince Carl of Sweden and Princess Ingeborg. She married King Leopold III of Belgium in 1926, becoming a beloved figure in Belgian society.
Her reign was marked by her dedication to social causes and her efforts to promote cultural activities in Belgium. Tragically, Queen Astrid died in a car accident in Switzerland on August 29, 1935, which led to widespread mourning in Belgium and beyond.
