Quantum Supremacy
Quantum Supremacy refers to the point at which a quantum computer can perform a calculation that is practically impossible for a classical computer to achieve in a reasonable time. This milestone demonstrates the potential of quantum computing to solve complex problems more efficiently than traditional methods.
In 2019, Google claimed to have achieved quantum supremacy with their Sycamore processor, completing a specific task in just 200 seconds. In contrast, the fastest classical supercomputers would take thousands of years to perform the same calculation. This breakthrough highlights the transformative capabilities of quantum technology in various fields, including cryptography and materials science.
