Quadriceps Tendon
The quadriceps tendon is a strong band of tissue that connects the quadriceps muscle to the patella (kneecap). This tendon plays a crucial role in knee movement, allowing for actions such as walking, running, and jumping. It helps transmit the force generated by the quadriceps muscle to the knee joint, enabling extension of the leg.
Injuries to the quadriceps tendon can occur due to overuse, trauma, or degenerative changes, often leading to pain and difficulty in knee movement. Treatment options may include rest, physical therapy, or, in severe cases, surgical intervention to repair the tendon.
