The Quadrantids are a meteor shower that occurs annually, peaking around January 3rd to 4th. They are known for producing bright meteors, often with long trails. The shower is associated with the asteroid 2003 EH1, which is believed to be a fragment of a comet.
The name "Quadrantids" comes from the now-obsolete constellation Quadrans Muralis, where the meteors appear to originate. Observers can see up to 120 meteors per hour during the peak under ideal conditions, making it one of the more active meteor showers of the year.
