QWERTY layout
The QWERTY layout is a keyboard design that arranges the letters in a specific order, starting with the letters Q, W, E, R, T, and Y in the top left corner. This layout was created in the 1870s for typewriters to reduce jamming by placing frequently used letters farther apart. It has since become the standard keyboard layout for most computers and devices.
Despite the introduction of alternative layouts like Dvorak and Colemak, the QWERTY layout remains the most widely used. Its familiarity and widespread adoption make it the default choice for typing in many languages, particularly in English-speaking countries.
