Purusha (Cosmic)
In Hindu philosophy, Purusha refers to the cosmic being or universal spirit that represents the essence of consciousness and existence. It is often described as the source of all creation, embodying both the material and spiritual aspects of the universe. Purusha is central to various texts, including the Rigveda, where it is depicted as the primal man whose sacrifice led to the creation of the world and all living beings.
The concept of Purusha is also linked to the idea of Prakriti, or nature, which represents the material world. Together, Purusha and Prakriti illustrate the interplay between consciousness and the physical universe, emphasizing the unity of all existence. This duality is foundational in many schools of Indian philosophy, influencing spiritual practices and cosmological understanding.
