Pterophyllum
Pterophyllum is a genus of freshwater fish commonly known as angelfish. They are native to the Amazon River basin in South America and are popular in the aquarium trade due to their striking appearance and graceful swimming. Angelfish typically have a triangular shape, long fins, and can display a variety of colors, including silver, black, and gold.
These fish thrive in warm, soft, and slightly acidic water. Pterophyllum species are social and often found in groups, but they can become territorial, especially during breeding. They primarily feed on small invertebrates and plant matter, making them omnivorous.
