Psychrolutes
Psychrolutes is a genus of fish commonly known as blobfish. These deep-sea fish are found in the waters off the coasts of Australia and New Zealand. They are known for their unique appearance, characterized by a gelatinous, soft body that allows them to withstand the high pressure of their deep-sea environment.
Blobfish primarily inhabit depths between 600 to 1,200 meters (2,000 to 3,900 feet). Their unusual shape helps them float above the ocean floor, where they feed on small crustaceans and other marine organisms. Due to their low density, they appear more "blobby" when brought to the surface, leading to their distinctive and often humorous appearance.
