Proximal Radioulnar Joint
The proximal radioulnar joint is a pivot joint located near the elbow, where the radius and ulna bones of the forearm meet. This joint allows for the rotation of the radius around the ulna, enabling movements such as pronation (turning the palm down) and supination (turning the palm up).
The joint is formed by the head of the radius fitting into the radial notch of the ulna, and it is stabilized by the annular ligament. Proper function of the proximal radioulnar joint is essential for various daily activities, including turning a doorknob or using utensils.
