The Proxima Centauri System is a star system located about 4.24 light-years from Earth. It consists of three stars, with Proxima Centauri being the closest to our solar system. This red dwarf star is part of the Alpha Centauri star system, which also includes Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B.
Proxima Centauri has at least two known exoplanets, Proxima Centauri b and Proxima Centauri c. Proxima Centauri b is particularly interesting because it lies within the star's habitable zone, where conditions might allow for liquid water. This makes the system a focus of interest for the search for extraterrestrial life.
