Prostate Screening
Prostate screening is a medical process used to detect potential issues with the prostate, a small gland in men that helps produce semen. The most common screening method is the Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test, which measures the level of PSA in the blood. Elevated levels may indicate the presence of prostate cancer or other prostate conditions, but further testing is often needed for a definitive diagnosis.
Another method of screening is the digital rectal exam (DRE), where a doctor manually checks the prostate for abnormalities. Regular screening is recommended for men, especially those over 50 or with a family history of prostate cancer, to help catch any issues early.
