Principles of Biomedical Ethics
The "Principles of Biomedical Ethics" are a set of guidelines that help healthcare professionals make ethical decisions. These principles include autonomy, which respects a patient's right to make their own choices; beneficence, which emphasizes the importance of acting in the best interest of the patient; non-maleficence, which means avoiding harm; and justice, which focuses on fairness in medical treatment and resource distribution.
These principles were popularized by Tom Beauchamp and James Childress in their book, "Principles of Biomedical Ethics." They provide a framework for addressing ethical dilemmas in healthcare, ensuring that patient rights and well-being are prioritized in medical practice.
