Prince Alexander of Battenberg
Prince Alexander of Battenberg was a notable figure in the 19th century, born on April 5, 1857. He was a member of the Battenberg family, a German noble family that had connections to various European royal houses. Alexander became the first Prince of Bulgaria after the country declared independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1878, serving as its ruler until 1886.
During his reign, Alexander focused on modernizing Bulgaria and establishing its political independence. However, his rule faced challenges, including political instability and opposition from neighboring countries. He eventually abdicated in 1886 and spent the rest of his life in exile, passing away on January 17, 1893.
