President of Latvia
The President of Latvia is the head of state and represents the country in international affairs. This position is largely ceremonial, with the president's main responsibilities including signing laws, appointing judges, and representing Latvia at official events. The president is elected by the Saeima, Latvia's parliament, for a term of four years and can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.
The president also plays a role in promoting national unity and guiding the country's foreign policy. While the position holds significant prestige, the president's powers are limited compared to the Prime Minister, who leads the government and makes day-to-day decisions.
