Prayagraj
Prayagraj, formerly known as Allahabad, is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated at the confluence of three rivers: the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. This sacred site is known for its rich history, cultural significance, and as a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus.
The city is famous for hosting the Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, which occurs every twelve years. Prayagraj is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Allahabad Fort and the Anand Bhawan, the ancestral home of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
