Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 Infection, often referred to as PASC, describes a range of health issues that persist after the initial recovery from a COVID-19 infection. These symptoms can appear weeks or even months after the acute phase of the illness and may affect various body systems, including respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological functions.
Common symptoms of PASC include fatigue, shortness of breath, joint pain, and cognitive difficulties, sometimes called "brain fog." Research is ongoing to understand the causes and long-term effects of PASC, as well as to develop effective treatments for those affected by these lingering symptoms.
