Pope Callixtus III
Pope Callixtus III, born Alfonso de Borja in 1378, served as the head of the Roman Catholic Church from 1455 until his death in 1458. He was a member of the Borgia family and is known for his efforts to strengthen the Church and promote the Crusades against the Ottoman Empire. His papacy was marked by a focus on reform and the promotion of education.
One of his notable actions was the canonization of Saint Joan of Arc in 1456, which highlighted his commitment to recognizing important figures in Church history. Callixtus III also initiated the construction of the Church of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome, emphasizing his dedication to the Church's architectural heritage.
