The Pont d'Avignon, also known as the Saint Bénezet Bridge, is a famous medieval bridge located in the city of Avignon, France. Originally built in the 12th century, it spanned the Rhône River and connected Avignon to the town of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. The bridge was an important crossing point for trade and travel during its time.
Today, only four of the original 22 arches remain, as the bridge was partially destroyed by floods in the 17th century. The Pont d'Avignon is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts many visitors who come to admire its historical significance and picturesque views of the surrounding area.
