Pomoan Languages
The Pomoan languages are a small family of Native American languages originally spoken by the Pomo people in northern California. This language family includes several distinct languages, such as Eastern Pomo, Central Pomo, and Northern Pomo, each with its own unique features and dialects.
Historically, the Pomoan languages were used in various communities, but their number of speakers has significantly declined due to factors like colonization and cultural assimilation. Efforts are being made to revitalize these languages through education and community programs, aiming to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Pomo people.
