Polyps
Polyps are abnormal growths that can develop on the lining of various organs, including the colon, stomach, and nasal passages. They can vary in size and shape, and while many polyps are benign (non-cancerous), some can develop into cancer over time. Regular screenings, such as colonoscopy, are important for early detection, especially for colorectal cancer.
There are different types of polyps, including adenomatous polyps, which have the potential to become cancerous, and hyperplastic polyps, which are usually harmless. Symptoms may not be present, but larger polyps can cause issues like bleeding or obstruction. Treatment often involves removal to prevent complications.
