Polydactyl
Polydactyl refers to a genetic condition where an individual has more than the usual number of fingers or toes. Typically, humans have ten digits, but those with polydactyly may have six or more. This condition can occur in various species, including cats, where it is often seen as an extra toe on the front paws.
The extra digits can vary in size and functionality, ranging from fully formed fingers to small, non-functional nubs. Polydactyly can be inherited or occur sporadically, and while it is generally harmless, some individuals may choose to have the extra digits surgically removed for cosmetic reasons.
